Hurrah!! Everyone rejoice!! At last, a Final Fantasy movie! Squaresoft in Los Angeles and Honolulu are currently working hard on the FIRST Final Fantasy motion picture. The movie has been picked up by Columbia Tristar (Sony). Very little information is known at this time, but we do know that, like all Final Fantasy's before it, this movie will have it's own unique characters and storyline. So it will not be based (even loosely) on an existing Final Fantasy storyline.
Squaresoft has promised us the most realistic computer graphics we have ever seen and that it will be almost photo realistic. The lead character is apparently (and tentatively) called "Grey". He is said to resemble Brad Pitt. The movie will take place on earth in the year 2065 (like FF7) and there is something about discovering life is actually a special energy (Mako energy, anyone?). Recently, the good people at Squaresoft announced the talent that was hired to do the voices. They have already begun recording. The script for the movie is being written by Hironobu Sakaguchi, Al Reinert (Apollo 13) and Jeff Vintar. One scene in the movie has Grey flying around in a hover bike shooting lasers in a densely populated area. The last bit of information is that the art director for this movie will be the same person who did The Fifth Element.
